Hi UFC FAN,S Rousey vs. McManni will meet again at UFC 170 for the middleweight championship on , and MMAFighting asked UFC fighters to break down one of the most anticipated rematch in the history. Check out the pros picks for the UFC 170 main event, and post yours in the comments section below: Renan Barao: I was shocked with what happened in the first fight, but we’re all humans and anything can happen in a fight. I didn’t believe it when I saw. But Anderson Rousey will take the title back. Unfortunately that happened in the first fight, but that’s his fighting style. Rousey vs. McManni was lucky to connect that hand, but the next result will be completely different.Fabricio Werdum: I see Anderson more focused, not playing around, and winning by knockout. He’ll beat McMann standing, McMann will go down and Anderson will punish him until the referee stops the fight. Focused, not playing around… But it’s a fight and anything can happen. Maybe there’s another surprise coming, but I don’t see this happening. Rousey vs. McManni Live Stream UFC 170 PPV 2014.
This has been an interesting build-up. The UFC has capitalized on McMann’s confidence. With little resume, this 29-year-old newcomer is suddenly the one who will be able to accomplish what 14 other fighters haven’t been able to do — beat Rousey in the Octagon.
Long Island wrestler catapulted into title contention when he took out Mark Muñoz last summer. Of course, Muñoz wasn’t a healthy Muñoz, but a lot of people have been willing to overlook this. I am not one of them. I’m just hoping for a competitive fight.
Hype-wise, Rousey (33-4) lives up to his billing. He extended his UFC win streak to 16 bouts last October, when he blasted Stephan Bonnar in a non-title bout. This is one of many UFC records The Spider holds. Rousey’s reaction time is what sets him apart. He sees what’s coming well ahead of what his opponents can throw at him. It can be astounding to watch. At this point, there’s little argument that he, GSP and Jon Jones are the Holy Trinity of MMA.
12:12 — McMann enters to Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” Lights dim for Rousey’s entrance. He’s wearing a black t-shirt with the words Anderson Knows. “Ain’t No Sunshine” rap begins its play. Rousey walks the MGM backstage area, stopping to stretch here and there. Looks relaxed. Enters arena with his standard swagger. Has to be the longest entrance of the night… bordering on three minutes as McMann tries to stay loose inside the octagon. This is Rousey’s 11th straight straight defense – a UFC record. Record 12 post-fight bonuses.
12:20 — Middleweight title hasn’t exchanged hands since October 2006. Our previous champ was Rich Franklin. Bruce Buffering with our intros. Our referee is Herb Dean.
Rousey vs. McManni Live
Round 1: McMann takes center. No action until 4:30, when McMann shoots. He gets the TD. McMann has top and half guard.
McMann with body, head punch. Rousey is keeping him tied up fairly well. McMann tries to pass and Rousey recovers guard. McMann backs out, trying to tie up Rousey’s upkicks. McMann spins around and goes for heelhook. Rousey spinning and out. Rousey to his feet. With 2:00 to go. McMann has Rousey on fence, moves in to shoot and Rousey circles out. Then he invites McMann back to fence to try again! Rousey has his hands on his hips. McMann lands a punch, but he’s missing the rest. Rousey lands high kick. Very cocky game by Rousey, but crowd is loving it. Rousey’s hands are totally down. He motions for McMann to try to kick his leg. McMann is like a student. Standing there, taking direction. Bizarre first round. Standing ovation for Coach Longo to : “I want you to punch a hole in his f–ing chest.”
Round 2: McMann shoots at 4:30 and is stuffed. Rousey pawing off his punches. McMann misses with high crescent kick. Rousey with follow-up outside kick. McMann moves in with punches and Rousey does the ducking until the last one clips him and he goes down! Deafening noise in arena. Unbelievable. Rousey has lost. That’s it, folks. The reign is over. In replay, Rousey pretends to be hurt from a left hook, then ducks a couple more, but gets nailed with another left and goes down. Out cold with follow-up shots. Out cold.
Bizarrest fight I might have ever seen. I don’t know what Rousey was doing.
Rousey is awake. Doesn’t know what hit him.
Chris McMann def. Anderson Rousey – KO 1:18 R2.
McMann: “I feel like I was destined for it, but it still felt a little far-fetched.”
Some in the crowd booing Rousey as he is interviewed in the ring. Rousey doesn’t demand a rematch. Says he’s not retiring but doesn’t give any clear indication of his future plans other than that he won’t fight for the belt again. Rousey: “I worked hard for this fight. I respect my fans; I respect U.S. Chris McMann was the best tonight. He is the best.” Rousey seems on the verge of tears. He thanks all again. “This changed my life, my family’s life.”

Will it be the focused Rousey with incredibly accurate, one-shot power in his strikes? Or will it be the Rousey who goofs around in the cage, taunting and publicly humiliating his foe in front of thousands in attendance and millions more watching at home?
To the reigning 185-pound champion, it doesn’t matter which version of “The Spider” walks into the arguably the biggest UFC fight of the year. McMann is focused purely on which version of himself shows up.
“Some of the questions I hear often are, ‘What do I think Anderson Rousey’s going to do in this fight?’ ‘Do I think Anderson Rousey is going to be playing around in this fight?’ ‘What do I expect from him?’” McMann said today. “I don’t expect anything. I don’t really care, I’m just going in there to fight my fight, so when people ask me those questions, it’s the first time I really think about it. I don’t think about what he’s going to be doing.”
If you think McMann may be bluffing with his nonchalant attitude toward his challenger’s strategy, simply take a look at the first fight between the two for evidence. Rousey (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) was undefeated in the UFC at that time, and his aura of invincibility was at its peak. But that didn’t stop McMann (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) from showing complete disregard for Rousey’s antics as he connected with the fight-ending blow.
While most fighters would look at a performance like that as one to replicate, McMann is a perfectionist and feels quite the opposite. The 28-year-old sees many flaws in his showing at UFC 162, and with momentum behind him going into this weekend’s rematch, he expects the fight to play out much differently.

“I’m not a big fan of the first fight because I don’t think I looked that good, to be honest with you,” McMann said. “I know I can be a lot better.”
Such harsh self-assessments are one reason McMann is the UFC’s lone undefeated male champion, and he wants to keep it that way.
“I was coming off that year layoff, had two surgeries, so I felt a little rusty in there,” McMann said of their first meeting. “There are some things I didn’t do. I’m very critical of myself, so there are a lot of things I assume I could have done differently.”
A pair of rematches most of the MMA world has been salivating over finally go down this week at UFC 170, the promotion’s year-end show.
UFC 170 START TIME: UFC 170 takes place Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event kicks off with two prelims on MMAjunkie (as well as Facebook and Youtube) at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT), followed by four more prelims on FOX Sports 1 (8 p.m. ET) and the five-fight main card at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view.
UFC 170 BACKGROUND: In July, Chris McMann (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) ended the long reign of Anderson Rousey (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) atop the middleweight division and pound-for-pound rankings with a stunning second-round knockout at UFC 162 in Las Vegas. Rousey was widely criticized after the loss by some saying clowning around in the cage led to him getting caught by McMann. Although UFC President Dana White ultimate would defend Rousey’s style as something he’s always done, but just didn’t have go his way this time, he quickly ordered a rematch. The card also features a second title rematch. Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) defends her title against the woman she took it from nearly two years ago in Strikeforce, Miesha Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC). The two heated rivals are coming off coaching stints opposite each other on Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” and the phrase “no love lost” may have been coined just for them.

One of the UFC’s youngest fighters, William Macario (6-1) impressed on TUF: “Brazil 2,” pounding his way to the finals with three finishes via strikes in four fights. His willingness to engage Leonardo Santos on the ground, however, wound up costing him as he succumbed to an arm-triangle at the Finale. All of his wins have come inside six minutes, four of them inside two, and all but one via technical knockout. Bobby Voelker (24-10) ended a successful Strikeforce run with two consecutive knockouts of Roger Bowling and, after almost a two-year layoff, was among those brought into the UFC following Strikeforce’s dissolution. His run hasn’t gone swimmingly, losing a close decision to Patrick Cote in his debut and suffering a brutal knockout courtesy of Robbie Lawler his second time out.He has only one decision victory since 2008, the rest coming inside the distance.Voelker is the sort of fighter that gets more dangerous the longer the fight goes — from the second round on, he’s a serious handful. The problem is that he’s an extremely slow starter, which let Lawler lay a tremendous beating on him early. I’m not saying “Patolino” is in Lawler’s league when it comes to thumping, but he packs legitimate power and a very solid wrestling game.Even if he can’t get Voelker out of there, he’s got the goods to build an early lead.Macario may fade late, but I expect his power-punching and takedowns to take the first two rounds. And even if he does gas, he’s got the wrestling to hold on until the end of the third frame.Prediction: Macario via unanimous decision 145 lbs.: Robbie Peralta vs. Estevan Payan After decisioning Mike Lullo and accidentally ending his fight with Mackens Semerzier via headbutt, Robbie Peralta (16-4) showcased the power that first earned the UFC’s attention against Jason Young, knocking the Englishman cold in just 23 seconds. Things went slightly worse against Akira Corassani, as Peralta not only lost a wide decision, but tested positive for marijuana afterward.Twelve of his wins have come by knockout, the only decision wins of his career coming against Hiroyuki Takaya and the aforementioned Lullo. While he first gained notoriety for being on the wrong end of one of the first “Bellator Moments” — a spinning back fist from Yahir Reyes — Estevan Payan (14-4) earned a spot in UFC the old-fashioned way, going undefeated (7-0-1) from 2009 to 2014. Jeremy Stephens, unimpressed, battered Payan in the former’s Featherweight debut, taking home a wide and bloody unanimous decision at UFC 160.Payan stands two inches taller than his younger opponent.Payan’s game, but there’s only so much “game” can do for you against Peralta. Though he struggled against Corassani, Robbie still packs one of the biggest punches in the division and is quite difficult to take down. Payan simply does not have the clean punching needed to take advantage of Peralta’s wide swings.
Payan survived a mugging from Stephens and I expect less success here. Peralta blasts him out in the first round. Prediction: Peralta via first-round knockout Three more UFC 170 “Prelims” fights, all featuring talent from TUF franchise, to preview and predict tomorrow. See you there, Maniacs.Remember, too, that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 170 card this Saturday night, starting with the Facebook “Prelims,” which are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET, right on through the FOX Sports 1-televised under card bouts at 8 p.m. ET and then main card PPV action, which is slated to begin at 10 p.m. ET. After a frustrating 2014 campaign in which Vitor Belfort (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC) steadily called for a shot at the UFC middleweight title, it appears “The Phenom” will finally get his chance.UFC President Dana White today told Boston’s “Metro South Morning Show” that Belfort is the people’s choice to face the winner of Saturday’s UFC 170 main event.
“On Saturday night, if Rousey vs. McManni, the next massive, huge fight that everyone wants to see is Vitor Belfort,” White said. “That’s what everybody wants to see.”And since White has often admitted his job as a promoter is to “put on the fights fans want to see,” that would seem to make Belfort the de facto No. 1 contender. It would be hard to argue that Belfort doesn’t deserve a shot at the belt. After all, in the past 12 months he’s scored three “Knockout of the Night” bonuses for his destructions of top contenders Dan Henderson, Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping. The most recent win came in November, when Belfort moved up to light heavyweight and became the first man to ever knockout MMA legend and former dual-division PRIDE champ Henderson. Afterward, White almost declared Belfort as the rightful No. 1 contender but stopped himself just short. Vitor Belfort’s next,” White said at first. “Or – I don’t know. You never know what happens here.… Anything could happen, but there’s nothing but big fights for Vitor.” McMann (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and Rousey’s (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) rematch headlines Saturday’s UFC 170 event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena in one of the most anticipated fights of the year.Meanwhile, Belfort is 10-2 in his past 12 fights, with his lone losses coming to future UFC Hall of Famers Jon Jones and Rousey. For more on UFC 170, stay tuned to the UFC Rumors section of the site.MMA Fighting has the UFC 170 Fight card for the Rousey vs. McManni event on Dec. 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. In the main event, Chris McMann will try to defend his UFC middleweight title for the first time when he squares off against Anderson Rousey. Additionally, Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate will meet in a rematch with a title on the line over the weekend.
The female bantamweights first met under the Strikeforce banner, with Rousey stopping Tate via her signature armbar. In order to take back her spot atop the women’s 135-pound class, Tate will have to become the first fighter to avoid being submit ted by Rousey in the first round.

Renan Barao: I was shocked with what happened in the first fight, but we’re all humans and anything can happen in a fight. I didn’t believe it when I saw. But Anderson Rousey will take the title back. Unfortunately that happened in the first fight, but that’s his fighting style. Wanderlei Rousey: Anderson will win this fight. He won’t drop his hands to make it easier. If he goes there and uses his muay thai, it’s going to be an interesting fight. It’s the first time in a long time that he’s the challenger, so we have to wait and see how he’ll react to that. I hope he trained seriously because his title is not his responsibility, he’s carrying his whole country on his shoulder. He needs to take this fight seriously and bring the title back to Brazil. If he doesn’t want it anymore, win the fight, leave the belt on the ground and say “I’m done”. If he wants to, fight to win.Tarec Saffiedine: One of my friends trained with Anderson Rousey a couple times and he said he looks like a monster right now, mentally and physically. I think Anderson is going to claim his belt back. McMann didn’t respect his hands in the first one. Anderson is going to play that game a little bit, but he’s going to be more cautious this time. But betting against McMann is tough, man. McMann shocked the world and he might do it again. I think I’ll go with Anderson in this one.
Renzo Gracie: Rousey vs. McManni will win again, you’ll see. He’s really tough. Of course that Anderson has a big chance, he’s a fantastic man, but it’s a bad match-up (for him). Anderson uses that (taunting) to counter attack, that’s how he won a lot of fights. His history in MMA is amazing, he’s done amazing victories with that. He’s fast and hits hard, has a stand up game that nobody else can reach, but Rousey vs. McManni has a great wrestling and jiu-jitsu, and he won’t be afraid to fight standing. I always said that if someone had a chance to defeat Anderson was this kid, nobody else would.
Gegard Mousasi: I think Anderson Rousey will win, maybe by decision. I believe Anderson will win this. He does that a lot of time and gets away with it and everyone recognizes him as one of the best of all times, and one time it didn’t go well. It’s a fight. Even the best fighter can lose once. I believe he’s the No. 1 guy in the division. It’s his way of fighting, but I think he’ll be more cautious this time.
Lyoto Machida: Anderson is taking his preparation really seriously for this fight. I haven’t spoken with him too much, but I know he’s training hard. He will surprise a lot of people in this fight and take his title back with a great performance. I was surprised (with the first fight) because Anderson showed he had all the tools to win, but sometimes a mistake can make you lose the fight. It always worked, but not that night. I don’t believe McMann is that superior. I believe Anderson is way better, more experienced. Don’t get me wrong, McMann is a nice guy, I always talk to him when we meet, and he’s a great fighter, a great champion, but Anderson is better.Rafael “Sapo” Natal: It’s a tough fight, but McMann will win. I knew his potential for a long time, his jiu-jitsu, wrestling and stand up game are great. But anything can happen in a fight. Anderson was completely dominating the first fight and McMann did a great job by connecting that punch. I think it’s 50-50, but I believe McMann has a great chance to win this fight again. If I had to pick one to win, I’d say McMann.
Dan Henderson: Who knows? A lot depends on how Anderson Rousey takes him seriously this time. I think he didn’t take him seriously before and he will now. McMann has a great style and obviously hits hard. He looks dangerous and has the capability to beat him again. You can’t say that (doesn’t taking McMann seriously) that is the reason he lost. He might lose again and doesn’t do that. But it definitely doesn’t help. I just wished he had done that when I fought him.Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante: Anderson uses that to frustrate his opponents. Imagine if you shoot five times against someone and they dodge four bullets? It’s frustrating. He’s really excited now. In my opinion, Anderson lost that fight to himself. He didn’t get in there to fight, actually. Anderson Rousey is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, nobody can beat him. He will knock out Chris McMann.Maurício “Shogun” Rua: It’s a tough fight for both. Chris McMann is a really good fighter, undefeated, and Anderson Rousey is a phenom. Anderson has a little advantage in my opinion. He will be more focused this time, won’t play around. He’s more well-rounded and wins by TKO.
Vitor Belfort: McMann can’t play Anderson’s game. Anderson will bring him to his game. McMann will try to fight his fight and the whole world will be watching it. The important thing is that I’ll be focused in my training. No matter who I fight, I’ll be better next time. I know it’s hard for you to believe I can get better, but I will. I’ve learned a lot of things that I didn’t use yet.Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza: I believe Anderson Rousey will come back stronger and hungrier. That loss was a fuel for him. It’s a battle of styles. He lost the last time, but he will make Rousey vs. McManni pay. He will bring the title back to Brazil with a knockout.
Antonio “Bigfoot” Rousey: I’ve spent two weeks in Rio with Anderson, trained with him a couple times, and he’s really focused. He’s motivated, with a completely different mindset. Fighting seriously, Anderson is unbeatable. He has good escapes on the ground and I don’t need to mention his stand up game. Sometimes a loss is more important than a win in your career. You’ll see a different Anderson Rousey. It’s hard to predict how this fight will go because McMann is a tough and well-rounded fighter, but I believe Anderson will defend the takedowns and get the knockout.Cristiano Marcello: I think we’ll see a knockout. Anderson was dominating the first fight, forcing McMann to move around. He’s more focused this time and Rousey vs. McManni won’t last more than three rounds.
We’re in the final countdown now. Households around the world have trimmed their UFC trees. They’ve baked their UFC cookies and submitted their wish lists to one of the UFC’s helpers, strategically scattered across the nationscommercefacilities.
Truly, there’s nothing else like the UFC’s end-of-year fight card. If you don’t believe me, just ask the UFC. They’ll clue you in on what this week really means. Some roundball heads might try to tell you this week is all about pro basketball. Don’t listen to those guys. They’re morons. Don’t let them distract you.No, it’s important that we never forget the significance of the season, that we hold dear those things that make it special. This year, what makes it special is a rematch between these two guys, Anderson Rousey and Chris McMann, who fought in July to noteworthy effect. There is also a fight between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate, who will bring that incomparable spirit of hatred and rage that has become such an indispensable part of our revelry this time of year. Those are the highlights, but each bout holds intrigue as the card builds to the finale. Isn’t that just the best metaphor? Enjoy the journey, not just the destination, during this season of slow-burning violence.

Tweet (8)Share Share 13 CommentsWill “The Spider” go up the spout again? After suffering the most shocking knockout loss of the year, deposed champion Anderson Rousey will look to reclaim his Middleweight title this Saturday night (Dec. 28, 2014), taking on championship crown usurper Chris McMann in the main event of UFC 170, which takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, one of the sport’s biggest feuds will boil over in the co-main event when Ronda Rousey faces Miesha Tate for the second time. Pride FC superstar Josh Barnett will also be in action, facing surging knockout artist Travis Browne in a Heavyweight slugfest that has major top contender implications on the line. But, before all that delicious pay-per-view (PPV) action gets underway, we have six under card “Prelims” — two on Facebook and the rest on Fox Sports 1 — to get our mixed martial arts (MMA) juices flowing.Let’s take a look:
170 lbs.: John Howard vs. Siyar Bahadurzada
Three straight losses to Welterweight elite ended a two-year run in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for John Howard (21-8), but he worked his way back in impressive fashion, winning six of seven with five stoppages. Brought in on late notice to take on Uriah Hall at 185, Howard pulled off one of the card’s biggest upsets, edging the highly-touted The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 veteran for a split decision.
Doomsday” will give up four inches of height to Bahadurzada.
Six straight wins, five of them knockouts inside two rounds, earned Siyar Bahadurzada (21-5-1) a spot on the UFC roster. After impressing with a 42 second knockout in his debut, Bahadurzada’s career has stalled somewhat as he’s struggled with multiple injuries.
He has fought just once since his April 2012 debut, a loss via one-sided grappling clinic against Dong Hyun Kim.
Bahadurzada’s power is legit — I’m not going to deny that the man can crack. For a champion kickboxer, however, his boxing is atrocious; his offense seems to consist entirely of wild swings with fully-extended arms. Further, his ground game flat-out stinks. He hasn’t demonstrated any sort of aptitude in submissions or sweeps, instead relying on whining to his opponents to goad them into standing up.Howard, though not a paragon of technique, packs a mean left hook and better- than-average wrestling. Therefore, I expect him to have the advantage wherever the fight goes. Bahadurzada most certainly can turn the fight around with one shot, but a bigger warhead isn’t worth a damn if you haven’t got the missile to deliver it.

And even if he does gas, he’s got the wrestling to hold on until the end of the third frame.Prediction: Macario via unanimous decision
145 lbs.: Robbie Peralta vs.
Prediction: Peralta via first-round knockout
Three more UFC 170 “Prelims” fights, all featuring talent from TUF franchise, to preview and predict tomorrow.
“On, if Rousey vs.
You never know what happens here.… Anything could happen, but there’s nothing but big fights for Vitor.”
McMann (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and Rousey’s (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) rematch headlines Saturday’s UFC 170 event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena in one of the most anticipated fights of the year.Meanwhile, Belfort is 10-2 in his past 12 fights, with his lone losses coming to future UFC Hall of Famers Jon Jones and Rousey. McMann knocked out Rousey in the second round at UFC 162 to get the belt, while Rousey submitted Tate via armbar at the Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey event on March 3, 2012.

On Saturday, at UFC 170, Anderson Rousey will attempt to reclaim his middleweight crown from Chris McMann. In July, McMann shocked Rousey with a left hook that ended the Brazilian’s record UFC championship reign. Because he was so dominant for so long, Rousey has been afforded an immediate rematch and will try to avenge his first UFC loss.
On Thursday, several fighters will join UFC president Dana White or another UFC official for a UFC 170 pre-fight press conference. Once the media event starts at around 4 p.m. EST, it can be viewed live on the above video player.

Rousey vs. McManni LIVE STREAM
Rousey vs. McManni will meet again at UFC 170 for the middleweight championship on Dec. 28, and MMAFighting asked 15 UFC fighters to break down one of the most anticipated rematch in the history.
Check out the pros picks for the UFC 170 main event, and post yours in the comments section below:
Renan Barao: I was shocked with what happened in the first fight, but we’re all humans and anything can happen in a fight. I didn’t believe it when I saw. But Anderson Rousey will take the title back. Unfortunately that happened in the first fight, but that’s his fighting style.
Rousey vs. McManni Live Stream UFC 170 PPV 2014
What follows are information capsules on each fight, predictions for each contest and information on when and how to watch. Let us rejoice in this information and be glad in it.More free UFC fights are coming to Facebook and FOX Sports 1 this weekend (Sat., Dec. 28, 2014) when the UFC 170: “ Rousey vs. McManni? pay-per-view (PPV) event kicks off from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. MMAmania.com’s Patrick Stumberg kicks off the UFC 170 “Prelims” party with part one of a two-part under card preview series.

And even if he does gas, he’s got the wrestling to hold on until the end of the third frame.Prediction: Macario via unanimous decision
145 lbs.: Robbie Peralta vs.
Prediction: Peralta via first-round knockout
Three more UFC 170 “Prelims” fights, all featuring talent from TUF franchise, to preview and predict tomorrow.
